India or Turkey for treatment from Somalia?

Families ask us this constantly, and the honest answer is that neither country is better at everything. We arrange treatment in both, and the decision is made case by case.

Here is how we actually weigh it.

The diagnosis comes first

This outweighs everything else. We choose the destination by which hospitals in our network are genuinely strong for your specific condition and procedure — not by which country has the better general reputation.

In practice, the cases we most often arrange in India include transplantation, complex cardiac surgery, oncology, neurosurgery and orthopaedic reconstruction. The cases we most often arrange in Turkey include cardiovascular surgery, hair transplantation, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, fertility treatment, ophthalmology and dental work.

These are tendencies in our own network, not rankings, and they do not decide an individual case.

Travel and length of stay

Turkey is generally a shorter journey from Mogadishu, which matters more than people expect for a frail patient, and matters again if a family member needs to travel back and forth.

For a long admission — transplantation, extended oncology treatment, complex staged surgery — the flight time matters less than the quality of the unit and the cost of the whole stay.

Language

You will have a multilingual assistant with you in either country, interpreting at appointments. Where it differs is the wider environment: in some Turkish hospitals Arabic is more widely spoken among staff, which some patients find easier outside appointment hours.

Visas

We process medical visas at the embassies of India, Turkey, Iran and Egypt, so the visa route is available for either destination. The invitation letter comes from the accepting hospital in both cases.

Cost

We will not tell you that one country is always cheaper. The figure depends on the procedure, the technique, the length of stay, the hospital and how many people travel — and those vary more within each country than between them.
