Questions patients ask us

If the answer you need is not here, write to us — we answer every enquiry personally.

How much does treatment abroad cost?
There is no single answer, because the price depends on the diagnosis, the procedure and the hospital. What we can promise is that the quote we send covers treatment, accommodation, assistance and transfers in one figure, so there are no surprises later. Preparing that quote is free and puts you under no obligation.
How long does it take to get a quote?
Most enquiries receive a first reply within two working days. If you send medical reports with your enquiry, our doctors can usually give you a realistic plan and price in that first reply rather than asking for more information.
Which countries do you send patients to?
We most often arrange treatment in Turkey, India, Iran and Egypt, and we process visas at the embassies of all four. The choice depends on which hospitals are strongest for your particular condition, not on a fixed preference.
Do you help with the visa?
Yes. We obtain the letter of invitation from the hospital and then process your visa at the relevant embassy. This is one of the parts patients find hardest to do alone, and it is included in what we arrange.
Will someone meet me at the airport?
Yes. A personal assistant supplied by Akabir Health meets you at the airport, accompanies you to the hospital and interprets at your appointments. They stay in contact with our medical team throughout your stay.
Can a family member travel with me?
Yes, and we recommend it for major procedures. Tell us in your enquiry how many people will travel and we will include their accommodation and transfers in the quote and help with their visas.
What language will we speak?
Our case managers are multilingual and we work with 24/7 multilingual alarm centres. Somali, Arabic and English are all fine, and your personal assistant interprets during medical appointments.
What medical records should I send?
Send whatever you already have: diagnosis, discharge summaries, scan images and reports, laboratory results and a list of current medication. The more our doctors can see, the more accurate the plan and the price will be.
Is my medical information kept private?
Yes. Medical information is confidential and is seen only by the team handling your case. Documents you upload through the patient portal are stored so that they cannot be retrieved over the web, and are served only to you and to the staff assigned to your enquiry.
What happens after I come home?
Your attending physician approves the final reports before you travel back, and we keep your information on file so that follow-up questions reach people who already know your case. Patients tell us this continuity is the part that matters most.
Do I have to create an account?
No — you can simply send an enquiry. But registering with the same email address lets you see which stage your case is at, read messages from the team and upload reports securely instead of sending them over chat.
What if I am not sure which treatment I need?
Send the diagnosis and reports anyway. Our medical management team will tell you which department fits, and will say honestly if travelling abroad is not the right answer for your case.
